Mr. Jenabu C. Williams was born and raised in Newark, NJ. He is a product of public-school education in Newark and East Orange, NJ. In 1992 he graduated from Clifford J. Scott High School where he excelled in Track and Field throughout his high school career and in college. Upon graduation from high school, Mr. Williams went on to attend Montclair State University (MSU) where he became a Division III All-American in Track and Field. While at MSU Mr. Williams also pledged Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc in the Spring of 1994 and he has been an active member since. Mr. Williams graduated from MSU with his BA in Sociology.
Mr. Williams also obtained his first Master’s degree in Public Administration (MPA) from Rutgers University and a second Master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Montclair State University. Mr. Williams is currently pursuing his Doctorate in Educational Leadership at KEAN University where he will graduate in May 2024.
Mr. Williams is currently the Eastern Regional Director of Education for Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. In this role he oversees the implementation of the Fraternities educational initiatives such as the Adopt-A-School program and academic scholarship distribution for the Eastern Region. Mr. Williams truly enjoys educating and empowering youth and he has worked with youth and families throughout his professional career. He is the former Executive Director of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Metro Newark, the former Associate Executive Director of the YMCA of Eastern Union County in Elizabeth, NJ, and the former Special Education Supervisor in Paterson Public Schools. Mr. Williams is a champion for educational equity, and he is currently the Vice Principal at the Essex County Vocational Schools – Newark Tech HS in Newark, NJ. Mr. Williams believes in the Nelson Mandela quote which states that “Education is the most powerful tool we can use to change the world.” Because of this belief, Mr. Williams spends countless hours educating, motivating, inspiring, and encouraging youth to do their best and manifest their destiny. Mr. Williams attributes his commitment to community service to the strong christian foundation that were laid by his loving parents, Rev. Lawrence and Elder Dorothy Williams. Mr. Williams currently resides in Essex County, New Jersey with his loving wife Bennay of 21 years and their two wonderful sons Addae and Joshua.
